Addition Financial + The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates invited FL Legislators to visit a High School Branch

On September 17, Chris Hodge from The League, and Kevin Miller, president and CEO, and Nora Rodriguez-Patterson, CCO, at Addition Financial, hosted State Senator Kristen Arrington, State Representative Rita Harris, and others at Addition Financial's Oak Ridge High School branch. The visit provided an opportunity for legislators to learn more about our long-standing High School Branch Program and its impact on students and the community.

During the visit, they learned the history and goals of the program, highlighting how it gives students hands-on experience in financial services and fosters real-world skills. The Student Tellers who were present shared their personal stories, describing how the program has shaped their confidence, financial knowledge, and career aspirations.

Yomary Velez, VP of Retail Banking, also emphasized Addition Financial's ongoing commitment to promoting financial literacy -- both inside and outside the classroom. Our partnership with Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) continues to be a cornerstone of that effort. OCPS Superintendent Maria Vazquez and district leadership joined the visit as well, underscoring how valuable the collaboration with AFCU has been in preparing students for success beyond high school.

The visit reinforced the importance of partnerships between education, government, and financial institutions in building financially capable and empowered communities.
