Our History

Safe to say, we’ve had a few glow-ups through the years, including most recently, in 2019, when we changed our name from CFE Federal Credit Union to

Addition Financial Credit Union.

1937

We were founded by 23 educators as Orange County Teachers Federal Credit Union (as if teachers don’t have enough to do!). That was 1937. From the beginning, we showed our passion for providing accessible and affordable banking options to build better financial futures.

1978

Then, in 1978, we changed our name to the Central Florida Educators’ Federal Credit Union. Apparently, we loved to wear boutonnieres (i.e., floral decorations) on our suits back then.

2004

In 2004 we became CFE Federal Credit Union – followed by a key partnership with UCF and an arena in our namesake.

2019

And, most recently, in 2019 we became Addition Financial Credit Union in order to reflect our additional commitment to serving the banking needs of everyone, while keeping our strong commitment to serving educators.

While a lot has changed since 1937, our commitment to your financial success has never wavered. We serve our members and the community – not shareholders. And that’s what makes us different.

A new chapter—and a whole lot more people to serve.

In 2025, Addition Financial expanded beyond Central Florida with the merger of Envision Credit Union, bringing our member-first approach to North Florida and South Georgia.

While our footprint grew, our purpose stayed the same: helping people build better financial futures and making the communities we serve stronger. Today, members across two states have access to more products, services, technology and financial resources—all backed by the same commitment to people, not profits, that has guided us since 1937.

It’s an exciting new chapter, and we’re just getting started.
